One of my favorite trends for fall 2012 you ask? Oh, that’s an easy one. Peplum! What is peplum you ask? Well it’s that little ruffly thing being added on to everything from skirts to
shirts and adds a little volume to the waist area (in a flattering way, of course). Peplum was all over the runways for spring and hasn’t lost its luster yet. The best part about this trend is that you can easily start sporting it now before the temperatures drop. See how I styled my peplums!

My first look is something I would definitely wear to work if I wasn’t funemployed or out for happy hour/dinner. The ensemble consists of my scarf print peplum top and a fitted pencils skirt and kitten heels. I belted my top to give my waist a little more shape and draw attention to the peplum aspect. Hint: Peplum tops like this go great with bottoms that are more fitted, not flowing. It’s all about proportion, people.
Look two is a bit more casual. I’d wear this out for a Sunday shopping adventure or a BBQ. I love the peplum bustier top because it adds girly structure to an outfit that would typically be a lot more simple and less exciting. I threw on a semi-bold necklace to play up the sweetheart neckline, too!
My third and final peplum look is something I would wear on a date or out on the town with friends. Peplum dresses are perfect for casual outings as well as fancy affairs; even the red carpet has been graced with peplum evening gowns recently. This dress is one of my favorites because I can dress it up or down. For this particular look added a bright lip, statement necklace and wedges to make it more nighttime appropriate.
What do you think of my looks? Will you be trying out the peplum trend??
