It’s no secret that women are starting to ditch their skinny jeans for wide-leg pants and denim. Skinny jeans are going away necessarily, but its flared sister is definitely having a moment. I picked up these very wide-legged pair at Marshall’s about a year ago, and I still get the same excitement to wear them as I do with a recent purchase. With appearances on the spring runways of Chanel, Alice + Olivia and Mara Hoffman, it’s clear to see that more voluminous styles are where its at right now. If you’re in the hesitant to give this trend a try, here are a few pointers:
Stick with high-waisted styles: These silhouettes tend to be much more flattering and elongate your legs.
Keep it proportional: If you’re not used to wearing a lot of fabric around your body, I suggest pairing your wide-legs with a form fitting top or one that drapes nicely when tucked in. Regardless of whether your pants are printed or solid, let them be the focal point of your look by keeping your top half minimal. (My outfit is not the best example of this, but you get the idea.)
Don’t forget the shoes: I personally think wide-leg styles look best paired with a sleek heel or wedge. If you’re on the shorter side, stick with shoes that expose the top of your foot to create the appearance of longer legs.
